Gourd BarnGourd Barn
The Gourd Barn is located just outside of Moran on Black Point Road. Located in one end of a turn-of-the-century barn made of hand-hewn timbers, Clarlyn’s studio is a constant work-in-progress. Gourds can be seen in various stages of life, from seeds right through to finished gourd art pieces. The trick of growing gourds in Northern Michigan is still a mystery and the Ledys travel the South during the winter months, stocking up on gourds as they go. Stop by from mid-April through the Christmas holidays for a barn tour and an art lesson!
Clarlyn Ledy’s studio is open on a “chance” basis or by appointment. When she’s home, the studio is OPEN. Katie, the family’s Golden Retriever, will meet your car as you pull in the drive. Also available (besides LOTS of gourd art) are sand cast bird baths made from rhubarb leaves. If you are creative and decide you’d like to learn the gourd crafting process, Clarlyn teaches classes at your convenience. Call to make an appointment. (906) 298-1844
