Rendezvous at the Straits Powwow, a family event celebrating the unique history of the St. Ignace area, will take place Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the Father Marquette National Memorial, just off US-2 west of I-75 in St. Ignace. General weekend admission is $5.00; Elders $4.00, children 5 and under free.
This traditional Native American Powwow features traditional dancing, Native flute music, drumming and Hoop dancing. Enjoy vendor demonstrations, authentic, hand-made arts & crafts. Traditional Native American food.
The Blessing of the Grounds will take place Friday, August 25, at Noon. Grand Entries will take place Saturday at Noon & 7:00 pm and Sunday at Noon.
Top off Saturday’s activities at 10:00 pm with free fireworks along the Huron Boardwalk overlooking Moran Bay in downtown St. Ignace!
This family event is alcohol and drug free. It is sponsored by the St. Ignace Events Committee, the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, and Kewadin Casinos.
Event officials, volunteers, vendors, participants and spectators must obey State Park Rules & Regulations including, but not limited to, the requirement for a Recreation Passport.
