The Hiawatha National Forest's more than 879,600 acres lie within the eastern and central Upper Peninsula. There are 77 miles of Great Lakes shoreline, including three historic lighthouses and more than 775 miles of rivers and streams, including 163 miles of designated canoe routes are located within.
Naubinway

The Hiawatha Club owns and operates its own 9-hold golf course that is open to the public. Located on US-2 in Naubinway. Originally built in 1932, it has been reworked extensively in recent years but still retains many of the original characteristics including a brutal par 3 finish.

hiking North Country Trail
St. Ignace Hiking Trail

This national scenic trail will extend from New York to North Dakota. Approximately 35 miles of the trail lies within the St. Ignace District. The trail is for hikers, bikers, snowshoes and cross country skiing. No horses or motorized vehicles are allowed. Paintball Field and Game Schedule

Sand Dune Cross Country Ski Trail


11 Miles west of St. Ignace, seven groomed trails varying in length from 1.5 to 7.6 miles offer a challenge for the beginner to the expert.

Silver Mountain Downhill Skiing/Tubing

Two downhill runs for the beginner and intermediate skier, and snowboarding. Snow tubing w/ rope tow, tube rentals. Warming chalet and snack bar. Located on the corner of Cheeseman Rd. and US-2 West.

Snowmobiling

St. Ignace is the trailhead to hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails criss-crossing the entire Upper Peninsula. Trails are directly accessed from area motels. For a unique experience, snowmobile across the "Ice Bridge" to Mackinac Island, or follow the trails to the frozen beauty of Tahquamenon Falls State Park. (Travel across the "Ice Bridge" is at your own risk.)
