St. Ignace and It’s Winter Wonderland!

Winter in St. IgnaceWinter is an adventure. One day it snows furiously and blankets the trees and land with white. The next day brings sunshine and a glorious translucent blue sky that fills you with the desire to be outdoors.

Can you hear the swish of your cross country or downhill skis as they cut through the crisp snow? Or feel the warmth of the sunshine on your face as you speed through the woods on your snowmobile?

In the evening enjoy cozy dining, the camaraderie of a northwoods gathering place and accommodations suited to your needs.

Ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross country, downhill skiing and tubing–winter is an adventure in the St. Ignace area.

Indoor Skating / Hockey Arena

Open Skate: Monday. Wednesday,& Thursday from 12 Noon to 3pm.
Stick&Puck Schedule:  Monday & Wednesday from 3-5:30pm.
Sometimes there is open skate and stick & puck on the weekends when there are no hockey games schedules.  Call to confirm dates and times.

Aerobic Exercise Class

September through June: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday from 5:15-6:30pm.

North Country Trail – St. Ignace

This national scenic trail will extend from New York to North Dakota. Approximately 35 miles of the trail lies within the St. Ignace District. The trail is for hikers, snowshoes and cross country skiing. No horses, bikes or motorized vehicles are allowed. Phone: (906) 643-7900

Sand Dune Cross Country Ski Trail

Sand Dune Cross Country Ski Trail11 Miles west of St. Ignace, seven trails varying in length from 1.5 to 7.6 miles offer a challenge for the beginner to the expert.

tubing 3Doc Holle’s Silver Mountain

Doc Holle’s Silver Mountain is not open for the season, which usually starts in mid-December.  Check back for further updates.

Hill hours: Friday from 5-9pm, Saturday & Sunday from Noon-6pm.
Price of lift ticket includes tube rental, $6 for ages 6-17 years, $8 for ages 18 & older.  No one under the age of 6 allowed on tubing hill.  Warming chalet and snack bar.    Snowshoe trail on site. Snowboarding and skiing may be available depending on snow conditions.
Tubing hill available for groups during off hours.  We are located at the intersection on Cheeseman Road and US-2.   Open late December through mid-March (weather permitting). Call ahead for conditions.

Snowmobiling

St. Ignace is the trailhead to hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails criss-crossing the entire Upper Peninsula. Click here for snowmobile trail conditions. Trails are directly accessed from area motels. For a unique experience, snowmobile across the “Ice Bridge” to Mackinac Island, or follow the trails to the frozen beauty of Tahquamenon Falls State Park. (Travel across the “Ice Bridge” is at your own risk.)
