In 2001, while my husband Cory and I were living in 1/2 of the duplex that he had built, I decided to follow my lifelong dream of working with animals. I began by hanging up flyers around our town of Cedarville, Michigan and grooming dogs out of our second bedroom. Word spread and I outgrew our makeshift facilities. We quickly recognized the lack of pet care services in the Les Cheneaux Islands area of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
By the next year, we had begun building our new house with the expanded business attached. Our services grew to included pet boarding and doggy daycare. Within five years we had to expand our kennels further and began offering pet food for sale.
To this day, our goal is to make your pet’s experience here at the Pet Resort as enjoyable, relaxing and as safe as possible. Cory and I love animals and believe that they should be treated like one of the family. We don’t care for the idea of pets in cages, so we keep their time there to an absolute minimum.

Thank you for visiting Mackinac Animal Aid Association. We are an association that has been working in conjunction with the Mackinac Animal Shelter for many years. Our shelter’s adoption rate has been running around 94% for the last two years. It is because the animals are happy, healthy, and loved while they wait. The people connected to the shelter are well trained and educated in the care of animals. They continue to educate themselves and are willing to help others. Building a better shelter requires more than brick and mortar; it requires the desire to make a difference with the less fortunate which cannot do it for themselves. Animal rights and trends have taken dogs out of doghouses on chains to designer beds and daily walks. The County Animal Shelter is a safe haven for animals brought in by the Animal Control Officer or any law enforcement officer. Our cats and dogs are loved by the staff at the Animal Shelter. This is not a sad place or experience. The Mackinac County Animal Shelter has had many improvements over the past three years due to the efforts of many people and many donations. If you would like help by making a donation, please send to MAAA (Mackinac County Animal Aide Association) P.O. Box 92 Moran, MI 49760 Or call to find out more information; MAAA 906-643-5532. Many people think 4-H is just for kids who live on farms or those interested in raising and selling animals – but that’s not true! Offering a diverse range of topics and interest areas, 4-H is the largest youth development organization in Michigan. In fact, each year more than 200,000 young people, ages 5-19, explore what interests and excites them as they grow with Michigan 4-H. In program areas ranging from science and technology to clothing and textiles, and so much more, 4-H provides fun, educational opportunities that empower young people with skills to lead for a lifetime and become the foundation for future success.
4-H is growing current and future leaders: growing kids who are confident and strong, curious enough to question and capable enough to find the answers; growing youth who stick to a job until the job gets done and know how to work with others, as well as lead.
True leaders aren’t born: they’re grown. Volunteer with Michigan 4-H and help grow true leaders in your community by empowering young people with skills to lead for a lifetime.
Mackinac County CTC is an alliance-based system that will reduce youth violence, alcohol & tobacco use, and delinquency when implemented into the community.
