Celebrate Smokey Bear’s 80th Birthday with the Hiawatha National Forest

St. Ignace, MI – Smokey Bear is celebrating a milestone this year with his 80th birthday. Join the Hiawatha National Forest to celebrate at the St. Ignace Ranger District Office on August 9th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Activities will be available throughout the day, including:

• Play a game and win a prize!
• Learn about how you can help Smokey prevent wildfires
• Vintage poster and movie viewing
• Take a walk and enjoy the forest on the Gros Cap Hiking Trail
• Celebrate with a sweet treat! Cupcakes available until supplies are gone.
• Shop for great Smokey Bear gifts at the Smokey store

And mark your schedules for these special events:

• 2:30 p.m. – Visit with Smokey Bear – Wish Smokey a Happy 80th Birthday!
• 3:30 p.m. – Interpretive Walk – Explore your local forest with a forester!
