The recovery and reburial of Fr. Jacques Marquette’s remains will be a sacred, historic, and healing event. These bones have been missing from St. Ignace for 145 years. Thanks to the efforts of St. Ignace’s Museum of Ojibwa Culture, members of the Native American community, the Jesuits (Society of Jesus), Marquette University, and the Cedar Tree Institute, the return and reburial of this priest who was beloved by the Native peoples of this region, is now returning.
