Discover St. Ignace, Shop Local
Program for Chamber Members only
The St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce is excited and eager to help our businesses survive and thrive during the difficult economic conditions we have experienced over the last few years. The St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the St. Ignace Business Association, the St. Ignace Downtown Development Authority, the City of St. Ignace and the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians to implement an exciting new program called “Discover St. Ignace, Shop Local”.

Why is this program important? Shopping locally, as you know, keeps the dollars spent at your business in the local economy, encourages local prosperity, helps localize important decision-making and supports general community well-being.
What is “Discover St. Ignace, Shop Local”?
The “Discover St. Ignace, Shop Local” program is an effort to raise awareness of the products and services offered within the community of St. Ignace. It is designed to encourage residents and visitors to patronize our local businesses.
How will it work?
It’s simple! Each participating business will display a poster or decal in the window of their business to show support for the program. By displaying the poster or decal, you are committing to offer customers who present the “Discover St. Ignace, Shop Local” card an exciting discount or special offer. You can define the discount or special offer yourself, and you can vary it as often as you like. It’s that easy!!
How will customers know about the “Discover St. Ignace, Shop Local” card and get a card?
We will be promoting use of the free “Discover St. Ignace, Shop Local” card in the St. Ignace News, on the Chamber website (www.saintignace.org), on FaceBook (Saint Ignace Chamber of Commerce), area-wide press releases, and we will be distributing the card through our welcome bag program at the St. Ignace Marina, local campgrounds and special events. The success of this program depends on you and your staff being excited about participation and raising awareness on an ongoing basis.
Cards can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce office. We will collect email addresses, so we can periodically email cardholders information about discounts or specials in our local businesses!!
Discounts and special offers will be listed at www.saintignace.org. Each business will be responsible to fax or email discount or special offer details to the Chamber of Commerce at 906-643-9380 or sichamber@lighthouse.net. For ideas, visit the Chamber Website and click on the Shop Local tab.
How long is the program?
The campaign will be an ongoing effort and was officially started on Memorial Day weekend, May 27, 2011.
How does my business participate?
You may determine when you want your business to participate. All you need to do is place the “Discover St. Ignace, Shop Local” poster or decal in your business window and begin offering discounts or special offers to customers when they present their Discover St. Ignace card.
How will I measure success?
Each business can set up its own method of measuring the results of this campaign. The Chamber of Commerce will be very interested in your continued feedback as the program moves forward.
What businesses will be promoted by “Discover St. Ignace, Shop Local”?
The program is intentionally simple and will be offered to members of the St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce.
What does participation cost?
There is NO charge to participate. However, if you display the “Discover St. Ignace, Shop Local” poster or decal in your business window, we ask that you honor customers’ support with an exciting discount or special offer. Each business can customize their offer to suit the goals of their business. The free program includes two (2) posters for your business. If you would like to have a 4”x5” static-cling rather than a poster, they will be available for $20.00 each.
